Why we love Howe Sound

Howe Sound is magical. Everyone that lives along its shores has been drawn here by the beauty and the wildness that is this southernmost fjord. Now the rest of the world is discovering it too.

When we were designing our t-shirts, we wanted to incorporate a positive message that explains why we are saying no to tankers, pipelines, and Woodfibre LNG. This project simply does not fit our values. It does not fit our vision of ourselves, Howe Sound, or any of the communities on its shores.

Our t-shirt text

I love the ocean, the rivers, the rainforests, and mountains. I love the easy access to trails right outside our front door; and the numerous recreational activities available here. I climb, bike, hike, ski, paddle, run, dance, skate, swim, fish, basejump, golf, horseride, windsurf, sail, or kite. The lifestyle is what attracted me to this community, and the people made me stay. My friends and neighbours are my family. I could live anywhere, yet I choose to live in Squamish. Every morning, I wake up, and I see the Chief and the mountains and I feel so incredibly lucky that I am able to live here. Every morning I get to choose how I want to play that day. I breathe the clean fresh air, and drink our delicious fresh water. This is my heart’s home. I love to watch the changing moods and seasons of this town, and enjoy the blue sky days as much as the rain when the mist rises off the river, creating clouds that drift up the valleys of the Chief. I love this community. I love the people that are attracted to this community. This is where I want to be. This is my sea to sky. This is why I am standing up to say no to Woodfibre LNG. www.myseatosky.org
