Theodora Carroll commented on Share your concerns about Woodfibre LNG's floatel 2019-12-11 15:37:33 -0800I am appalled and disgusted by the BC Government and your office proceeding with 1) the on-going support for the WFLNG project in Squamish Howe Sound, which over the years has been well shown to be environmentally, financially, economically, community, health, and species unsound; and now your intention to allow a “Floatel” to be built housing largely “off-shore” workers with little or no connection to Squamish. BC, or Canada. I have carefully and fully read the arguments against both the WFLNG and Floatel, and see it a nothing but a “boondoggle” being approved by your office and the BC and even Canadians government- that is wrong, not only environmentally in its full extent but because of the huge financial and tax burdens you are imposing on local residents like myself, but on also British Columbians as a whole and ultimately Canadians over a period of 30 to 50 years. I want to see a fully independent environment assessment undertaken immediately, and I want to see this taken before the courts, because I do not believe that the BC Environmental Office has acted in good faith for the benefit of British Columbians, and especially those in along Howe Sound and in Squamish. Howe Sound is world renowned for its wild natural beauty, recreational opportunities, and the vibrant communities we call home. We value intact ecosystems that sustain and support our communities, our livelihoods, and our diverse local economies.
The proposed Woodfibre LNG project is based on faulty economics, will harm marine and terrestrial ecosystems, and poses an unacceptable health and safety risk for the communities of Howe Sound. This project does not fit our values.
We call on the Provincial and Federal governments to reject the Woodfibre LNG project and its associated pipelines and tankers.
