Howe Sound is world renowned for its wild natural beauty, recreational opportunities, and the vibrant communities we call home. We value intact ecosystems that sustain and support our communities, our livelihoods, and our diverse local economies.

The proposed Woodfibre LNG project is based on faulty economics, will harm marine and terrestrial ecosystems, and poses an unacceptable health and safety risk for the communities of Howe Sound. This project does not fit our values.

We call on the Provincial and Federal governments to reject the Woodfibre LNG project and its associated pipelines and tankers.

I live in Howe Sound. This is absolutely NOT the area for an industrial gas plant and tanker facility. We have ferries that make daily runs and we need safe and clear shipping lanes. Our lives are based on a clean ocean that we can enjoy. Nobody needs or wants this bloody LNG gas plant. No benefit to British Columbians or Canadians. It will only lead to disaster and expense.

Considerable safety concerns after so many years of effort to clean up the Salish Sea from the ‘70’s pollution. Why would we invite this type of development in such a fragile ecosystem? I challenge the government to take dramatic steps to legislate people’s behaviour so thr we don’t need these sources of energy because people and especially corporations won’t do it voluntarily.

It is a disgrace that the provincial government has lowered the taxes on the LNG industry. Taxpayers are subsidizing corporate profits as they damage our environment and contribute to global warming.
