Howe Sound is world renowned for its wild natural beauty, recreational opportunities, and the vibrant communities we call home. We value intact ecosystems that sustain and support our communities, our livelihoods, and our diverse local economies.

The proposed Woodfibre LNG project is based on faulty economics, will harm marine and terrestrial ecosystems, and poses an unacceptable health and safety risk for the communities of Howe Sound. This project does not fit our values.

We call on the Provincial and Federal governments to reject the Woodfibre LNG project and its associated pipelines and tankers.

That fire last night was horrid. Without LNG we would be one step closer to safety.

Howe Sound is such a beautiful and unique place – it needs to be protected by those who live around it. More people need to know that they can actually make a change if they contribute to protecting this beautiful part of our home. Happy to be contributing to protecting our environment.

This LNG proposal makes no sense at all, including its doomed economics in a very bad market. The environmental risks are outrageously high, both here and in the fracking area. Anyone has to be completely insane to even contemplate building this stupid project.

As a resident of Howe Sound, I call upon our elected officials to protect our lands and waters. Six of our municipalities and districts have passed resolutions in opposition of this project. There is clearly no social license for it. If the provincial government will not stop this project, we will act decisively to remove them from office in the next election.

I have witnessed the longterm effect of a 500 barrel bunker oil spill in 1964 off Pasley Island, coating the shoreline.50 years later, you can see the high tide mark.Dead birds & seals washed up on our beaches. Devastating. Woodfibre LNG will cause damage at the source of the LNG itself in B.C.‘s interior areas, damage to the waters of Howe Sound with the outdated water cooling system which will pour vast amounts of heated water into Howe Sound daily, and the potential for a marine disaster with the giant ships carrying LNG through the narrows of Howe Sound.

MP’s and MLA’s…do what is best for our land and sea, right here in B.C. Say no to Woodfibre LNG.

United we have the power to stop this project through seeking truth and by analyzing what we really want the future to look like, not only in our backyards but on the earth itself. So happy people are standing up for what is in everyones best interest: a healthy earth.

Please do not destroy my beautiful land with the idea that LNG is the “future” to all of Squamish’s problems.
