Howe Sound is world renowned for its wild natural beauty, recreational opportunities, and the vibrant communities we call home. We value intact ecosystems that sustain and support our communities, our livelihoods, and our diverse local economies.

The proposed Woodfibre LNG project is based on faulty economics, will harm marine and terrestrial ecosystems, and poses an unacceptable health and safety risk for the communities of Howe Sound. This project does not fit our values.

We call on the Provincial and Federal governments to reject the Woodfibre LNG project and its associated pipelines and tankers.

Why would we allow something so disruptive to be implemented into our environment when the wildlife and regeneration of the sound has just begun and whales are starting to be spotted here once again. We should be focusing on renewable energy. Fracking is so environmentallly unsound and natural gas has been scientifically proven to be more detrimental to the environment than burning coal.

Protect Howe Sound marine life and the people who live in beautiful Sea To Sky area. No LNG ! I recently witnessed 4 orca whales swimming in Howe Sound at Porteau. This was an exciting first time experience for me, and I have lived in Squamish since 1976. These beautiful marine mammals are in danger already, with only a little over 70 known to inhabit these waters. This kind of experience will become even more rare to impossible if LNG is allowed to exist here. Wiith the high level of greenhouse gas emissions that would result from LNG it is a hazard to the people and sea life who call Howe Sound and surrounding areas their home. http://www.myseatosky.org/climate-change

There are already too many tankers in English Bay! Far too risky of a route for transporting LNG and DILBIT. The federal government needs to stop pushing the transport of fossil fuel through the waters off Vancouver and focus on long-term renewables.
