Howe Sound is world renowned for its wild natural beauty, recreational opportunities, and the vibrant communities we call home. We value intact ecosystems that sustain and support our communities, our livelihoods, and our diverse local economies.

The proposed Woodfibre LNG project is based on faulty economics, will harm marine and terrestrial ecosystems, and poses an unacceptable health and safety risk for the communities of Howe Sound. This project does not fit our values.

We call on the Provincial and Federal governments to reject the Woodfibre LNG project and its associated pipelines and tankers.

LNG is NOT clean energy! In fact LNG is a polluting fossil fuel that exacerbates climate change: exactly what we don’T need in a climate emergency!?

Building LNG projects in BC is increasing GHGs, harming our natural ecosystems & driving our wildlife species to extinction. For these high-stakes risks alone, we must ban all LNG operations immediately..

Somehow, what seems to still politically matter most is the euphoria-inducing creation of jobs.

Meanwhile, whether it’s a vicious heatwave, a near-extinct whale species gradually dying off, unprecedentedly large-scale flooding or geologically invasive/destructive fracking or mass deforestation or increasingly dry forests resulting in record-breaking deadly wildfires in California and B.C. or a myriad of other categories of large-scale toxic pollutant emissions and dumps, there’s discouragingly insufficient political gonad planet-wide to sufficiently address it.

Howe Sound is worth more than this industrial development that harms the environment. It should not proceed

The fracking involved wastes too much precious water and is responsible for earth quakes. The market for LNG is dying or dead already, the ships carrying LNG will cross paths with our ferry, and it is critical we get off fossil fuels now…it is 2019…past the time to be onto wind, solar, and geothermal energy!
