Join us in asking the tough questions, to find out exactly what FortisBC is planning in the Squamish estuary and Wildlife Management Area.
As a requirement of their Development Permit application, FortisBC is hosting a public information meeting to explain how they're proposing to drill in the Squamish estuary.
The revised application now only has two sites on the spit road. FortisBC is planning to drill a vertical borehole at each location 10 inches wide and 80 metres deep. After that they will drill two lateral boreholes at 30 metres and 70 metres deep for each borehole. The lateral boreholes from BH-4 will go underneath the Squamish River, while the lateral boreholes from BH-6 will go towards the compressor station site. So 6 boreholes in total.
They are also conducting geophysical work in the Wildlife Management Area above where the lateral boreholes will be located.
