I'd like to take a moment this holiday season to celebrate a few of our successes. In less than three years, we have built a powerful alliance of more than 5,000 people that love Howe Sound as much as we do.
We have empowered, educated, and informed citizens on key issues with Woodfibre LNG, the BURNCO gravel mine, and the FortisBC pipeline & compressor station. Every community around Howe Sound has stated their opposition to Woodfibre LNG, demonstrating time and again that there is no social license for these projects. With your help, we have made Woodfibre LNG a local election issue in 2014, a Federal election issue in 2015, and we're planning to make it a Provincial election issue in 2017.
All of this has been 100% powered by the passion of our amazing volunteers, and by you. I am so incredibly grateful to each and every one of you that has attended a demonstration, written a letter to your representatives, shared our facebook posts, come out to our events, put a sticker on your vehicle, participated in the environmental assessment process, signed the Howe Sound Declaration (up to 10,225 signatures and counting!), or volunteered your time and your skills. What an incredible community we have built together. With this much energy and resolve, I have no doubt that we will stop these destructive projects.
Looking forward, we don't want to keep fighting these projects one-by-one. We envision a different future, where Howe Sound is protected for future generations. Can you help us to kickstart our campaign to protect Howe Sound? There are many different ways to give. Please donate today.
For the herring, the salmon, the eagles, and the whales, and all of the creatures that depend on a healthy Howe Sound, we thank you.
