Mona Helcermanas-Benge commented on It's time to take ACTION! 2016-02-16 12:53:49 -0800Thank you Tracey for this excellent format in which to make a comment. We all are aware of the many reasons why WLNG is a project unsuited to the location for which it is considered. The sole owner is, as Rafe describes, a charged and fined tax evader and destroyer of the rainforest habitat for orangatans in both Sumatra and Borneo. There is no upside to approval of this project on the basis of environment, public safety and economics. Howe Sound is the wrong place for a Class A Hazard that endangers the population the commercial and recreational marine traffic and the marine environment. Accidents in this industry are rare but they do happen and when they do they are catastrophic. I urge everyone to sign the proclamation, email in a public comment on the issue of green house gases asked for by the Minister of Environment and sign the petition. I know we have taken actions many times over the last two years but it is important to do this.

Mona Helcermanas-Benge signed Sign the Howe Sound Declaration 2016-02-17 19:37:01 -0800Howe Sound is the wrong place to site a class A Hazard industry like WLNG. The Minister must say NO.18,621 signatures
Howe Sound is world renowned for its wild natural beauty, recreational opportunities, and the vibrant communities we call home. We value intact ecosystems that sustain and support our communities, our livelihoods, and our diverse local economies.
The proposed Woodfibre LNG project is based on faulty economics, will harm marine and terrestrial ecosystems, and poses an unacceptable health and safety risk for the communities of Howe Sound. This project does not fit our values.
We call on the Provincial and Federal governments to reject the Woodfibre LNG project and its associated pipelines and tankers.
